When you send your awards or plaques away to be engraved, they pass through several different steps before the process is completed. The first part of the process involves having all of the materials needed to do the engraving. This includes the chosen award or plaque and the equipment to perform the actual laser engraving.
Here’s how the plaque or award engraving process works:
Prepare the Design
At Blue Ribbon Trophy/LaserWerks, we use a computer-generated system. The laser performs the engraving following the pattern that has been downloaded onto the computer. All of the patterns are customized so that your design is one of a kind.
Load the Award for Engraving
Your award is placed in the machine and secured so that it won't shift or move during the laser engraving process. Its placement is carefully measured so that your design is perfectly centered.
Turn on the Machine
The machine is turned on, and the engraving process begins. Laser cutters perform the work quickly for most designs and can finish a project in a short time. The machine is closely monitored to ensure that the engraved design is perfect in every way.
Shine It Up!
Once the engraving is complete, the next step in the process is to give it a little extra shine. Adding a small touch of gloss can make the design stand out. A quick wipe down will remove any smudges or fingerprints on the surface of the award and will allow the engraved design to shine.
Pack and Ship
Once the engraving process is finished and the gloss has dried, the award will be packed and shipped directly to your door. Every precaution is taken so that your award arrives in perfect condition and is ready to be presented as soon as it’s unpacked.
Understanding the laser engraving process and what steps are involved will help you appreciate what goes into creating the awards you give to your honored employees and guests.
